saints and Goddesses

I'm interested in exploring how women and general Western culture looks at and understand women and female role models through fiction, myth, and the divine.

The Saints' body of work reimagines actual women I've found in antique photographs of nameless women from the 1930s. The artwork is life-sized 32“ x 72” mixed media on canvas with oil and acrylic paint, pen and ink, metal leaf, leather, wood, and paper.

Women of the Goddess Project is an empowering exploration in which I allow each of my subjects to select a goddess of any genre or to make one up that personally resonates with her. The works are 40 "x 30", 4'x5', and 3'x6' mixed media on cradled wood using acrylic paint, metal leaf, pen and ink, and hand-marbled paper.
